NAAM
[Internationally-acclaimed, independent architecture and culture magazine]
NAAM was an award-winning, independent architecture and culture magazine based in the University of Tehran, co-founded and edited by Arshia, which was ran from 2014 to 2017, in Persian and English as an inter-disciplinary, creative platform with an international scope.
Firmly loyal to its indie and DIY roots, NAAM was published in paper – in limited numbers – as well as online. At NAAM, we considered different aspects of architecture, culture, design, craftsmanship, identity, geography, and society as parts of a coherent whole, and we tried to face this integrity with a pragmatic, in-the-field, participatory approach, trying to incorporate different perspectives from all over the world. In the course of four issues, NAAM collaborated with architects, writers, designers, and artists from over 15 countries, and tackled topics as diverse as rural development, indie game design, the role of architecture in fiction, and many more.
